Emergency training

Rural/Metro Emergency Training provides the most technologically superior emergency responder training available. We provide realistic, hands-on firefighting, emergency medical service, hazardous materials response and confined space rescue instruction for industrial responders.

Because many industrial customers still find it more convenient and cost-effective for training to be conducted on-site, Rural/Metro also operates a number of portable training facilities that we take directly to customers' sites.

All training features "scenario-based training" through which our innovative props replicate real-life industrial emergencies, and react in true-to-life fashion to the intervention of emergency responders.

What We Do
The greatest benefit of Rural/Metro Emergency Training is that our sophisticated training props actually look and behave like actual emergencies.

Our fire processing unit, for example, can simulate every possible type of industrial fire, and can generate up to 30 different emergency situations simultaneously. While controlling a pump fire, a chemical leak may suddenly pop out... followed up by several more emergencies that require attention.

Incidents start small, and grow larger, faster and more intense as time passes. If students make a proper tactical decision, the prop rewards them by improving the situation. Tactical errors cause the situation to worsen.

This type of realism teaches emergency responders much more than training on a static prop, which reacts the same way no matter what actions are taken, or no matter how many responders are fighting it.

Keys To Doing It Well
Following are the elements that set Rural/Metro's emergency responder training apart from our competitors:

  • Our training props replicate real-life industrial situations and react in true-to-life fashion to the efforts of response teams.
  • Our training simulates, as closely as possible, the exact circumstances and situation in which each individual works. For example, if you normally respond as part of a three-person team, then you'll train with a three-person team.
  • Our training is industry specific so students can choose courses designed for their industry. As a result, students won't waste time and money learning concepts or techniques they'll never use.

In addition to our open enrollment courses, we'll also customize a comprehensive course designed specifically for your facility's special needs.
