Disaster response

National Disaster Response Team

Rural/Metro's national scope makes us an extraordinary resource to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other disaster response authorities.

By pooling our reserve capacity, we can deploy an impressive force to assist in response and recovery operations throughout the United States. Our depth of resources at the local level ensures that our deployment of these resources will in no way detrimentally affect the high level of care we provide to the communities we serve.

Within hours of notification, our national Disaster Response Team (DRT) can deploy ambulances, fire apparatus and personnel to assist with disaster response.

We have available a wide range of emergency response and medical transportation vehicles and staffing, depending upon the type of disaster. Options include:

  • Disaster command posts
  • Command vehicles
  • Mobile intensive care units
  • Paramedic ambulances
  • Non-medical wheelchair coaches
  • Fire engines
  • Four-wheel drive attack trucks
  • Water tenders
  • Maintenance vehicles
  • Personnel transports
  • Fixed wing medical transportation.

We also have a variety of specialized resources, including:

  • Critical incident stress management (CISM) teams
  • Emergency services medical directors
  • Experienced disaster management experts

Once we arrive on the scene, we are capable of being entirely self-sufficient. Our DRT's are highly mobile and can be used to evacuate, repatriate and respond to emergencies, as well as set up mobile first aid stations.
